Since June 30, 2021 Netflix no longer supports Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U . The application was removed from the eShop in late December 2020 for both consoles, but support has continued until these days. Unfortunately the end has come, as inevitable.
We imagine that not many people were watching Netflix using two essentially dead consoles, so, at least from a commercial point of view, we don’t think there will be major protests for the end of the service. The only problem could be the fact that on Nintendo Switch , the latest console from Mario’s house, there is still no Netflix application, but it is a problem not related to the end of support for the other two consoles.
We will see how Nintendo behaves in the future regarding these services. Basically it does not reject them, since on the Switch it is possible to see Hulu and YouTube, but it is definitely slow in implementation. On the other hand, we do not believe that many are really interested in seeing Netflix, Disney + or other video streamingservices on Switch, given that there are so many supported screens now.
