‘The Last Of Us’: Jasmila Žbanić & Ali Abbasi To Direct HBO Series

HBO is working on the pre-production of its The Last of Us series and, thanks to this, the creative team is gradually taking shape. In fact, new reports suggest that they have already found the directors who will take over the first season.

According to information from Deadline sources, HBO chose Jasmila Žbanić and Ali Abbasi as the directors of the episodes of the first season of The Last of Us. At the moment, it is unknown how the episodes of this HBO production will be assigned.

In case you don’t know him, we tell you that Jasmila Žbanić is a Bosnian producer and director who worked on Quo Vadis, Aida ?, which was nominated for an Oscar. For his part, Ali Abassi is a Danish nationalized Iranian filmmaker best known for directing Border.

It is important to note that the creative team of The Last of Us has had changes. We say so since Johan Renck, director of Chernobyl, was going to be responsible for settling its pilot chapter. However, there were scheduling issues that prevented this from happening. This is why the pilot chapter is now the responsibility of the Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov.

At the moment, there are not many details about the cast that will participate in The Last of Us . The good thing is that the little information we have is related to the most important characters.

What happens is that it is already a fact that Pedro Pascal ( The Mandalorian) will be the one who gives life to Joel, while Bella Ramsey ( Game of Thrones ) will be Ellie. On the other hand, it is a fact that Gabriel Luna will play Tommy, Joel’s brother.

Are you excited for The Last of Us series? Tell us in the comments.
