Zack Snyder will create a Star Wars inspired movie for Netflix.

In 2021, Zack Snyder proposed “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” and “Army of the Dead”, and in the following months, viewers will check out “Army of Thieves”, in which the director also dipped his fingers, helping with the story and acting as one of the producers.

The creator, however, started the next project for Netflix – he will stand behind the camera, he will be one of the producers and will help in the development of the story for “Rebel Moon”. The film is likely to usher in an epic fantasy saga with a plot set in outer space.

It is not without reason that the first information about the production evokes associations with the Star Wars universe, because Snyder was inspired by Star Wars – the idea was born when the author was dealing with the brand, but the takeover of the universe by Disney left its mark on his idea.

During the conversation with the journalist of The Hollywood Reporter, the director confirmed that the new story was created out of love for the Lucasfilm world, but the author also draws handfuls from Akira Kurosawa’s films. Interestingly, George Lucas was inspired by the works of the Japanese during the development of Star Wars.

“It ripened in me as a fan of Akira Kurosawa, a fan of Star Wars. This is my love of science fiction and gigantic adventure. I hope it’s [Rebel Moon]. Ed.] will also become a powerful IP and an expandable universe, ”Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Rebel Moon” will be written by Snyder, Shay Hatten (“John Wick 3: Parabellum”) and “300” co-writer Kurt Johnstad (“Atomic Blonde”). The story begins when one of the colonies on the edge of the galaxy is attacked by the despotic Balisarius. Desperate townspeople send a young woman with a mysterious past to search for warriors from neighboring planets to help her in battle.

Production of “Rebel Moon” is expected to start in 2022. The creator has been dealing with the idea for a long time, so, as he said, “the work on the film is very advanced”.
