Nintendo Switch sells less in 2021 than in 2020 in European markets, as was to be expected

GSD has published new market data for the EMEAA territories (Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia and part of Asia) for the first six months of 2021 , unveiling the hardware financial results of the main gaming companies. Thanks to the information we can discover that Nintendo Switch is selling less in this 2021 than in the first half of 2020, as was to be expected.

Precisely, we are talking about a -26% compared to the first half of 2020. The decline is not a surprise, as mentioned, as last year Nintendo Switch saw record sales thanks to the beginning of the quarantines which prompted many to buy new devices game. Taking a more “honest” comparison, we can see that, compared to the first half of 2019, Nintendo Switch sales have increased by 38% in this first half of 2021.

Furthermore, Nintendo Switch – even after the decline – is the best-selling console in the reference territories of these data, again for the period January – June 2021. This is a remarkable result, especially considering that it had to clash with the new machines from game from Sony and Microsoft, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S.
