Forspoken was one of the many productions unveiled at Sony’s yesterday event, but just after the show, Luminous Productions revealed some valuable details about Freya Holland’s history, including the story behind adventurer Nathan Drake.
Forspoken will debut on PS5 and PC in spring 2022, so PlayStation Showcase turned out to be the perfect moment for Square Enix and Luminous Productions to launch the promotion machine. As we knew before, we will soon face a huge challenge together with Frey Holland.
The protagonist is a 21-year-old girl living in New York, who knows all nooks and crannies. As a result of an unexpected turn of events, Frey will discover that she has magical powers and will be transferred to Athia – an enigmatic land where “fantasies and nightmares suddenly become very real.”
“Playing as Frey, you will have to use your newly discovered magical abilities to fight the terrifying monsters that inhabit the land. In order to have a chance to return home, it will be necessary to confront the Tantas – the destructive, twisted, all-powerful representatives of the matriarchy who rule Athia. ”
The studio also confirmed the other characters that will play a significant role in the plot. Jonathan Cake will play the role of … The protagonist’s magic bracelet – Cuff will help Freya find herself in a new reality. Tanta Sila (played by Janina Gavankar) is the strongest and most terrifying Tanta in Athia, who once protected the world but has now become a “power-mad despot.” Johedy (Keala Settle) is a “down-to-earth archivist” who will give the heroine advice, while Auden (Monica Barbaro) will prove to be invaluable support for the main character, noticing all her strengths.
A team of talented developers is responsible for the plot of the production, including Amy Hennig (Uncharted series), Gary Witt (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Allison Rymer and Todd Stashwick.
The exciting events and the spectacular world will be complemented by atmospheric music, which is a combination of electronic beats and a fantasy atmosphere – the project was joined by composers Bear McCreary, who created music for God of War from 2018 and The Walking Dead, and Garry Schyman (BioShock).
