Sony confirmed the surprising news. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is coming to Japanese consoles and the game will debut on PS5 and PS4 in September. The company emphasizes that the series returns to PlayStation devices after more than 20 years.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries debuted on personal computers in 2019, and in May 2021 it premiered on the Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One. Piranha Games, however, wants to develop the brand and Sony has just announced the release of the game on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
On September 23, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will hit the Japanese equipment and it will be a great return of this IP to Sony devices, as the series bypassed PlayStation consoles since 1995. Now that will change and players will have access to the base and the Heroes of the Inner Sphere expansion. The position will also use the capabilities of the DualSense controller (adaptive triggers and haptic vibrations).
“But this is just the beginning! While both MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and Heroes of the Inner Sphere feature campaigns that you can complete by yourself, MechWarrior is best enjoyed with friends – and with four-player PvE and co-op cross-play on all supported platforms, there’s never been a better time to having fun with mercenaries from all over the world ”.
The studio also emphasizes that only one person from the group must have the purchased add-on in order for the entire team to go on a mission. The creators also took care of cross-play, refined the position and took care of the balance.
