Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise has reached and exceeded eight million copies distributed, a number that includes both physical drives and digital downloads from Nintendo eShop and Steam.
The game placed four million units in the first week in March , then hit five million copies in early April and surpassed six million units sold at the end of the month. At the end of May, copies distributed amounted to seven million. For comparison, Monster Hunter World sold five million units in the first week to then place 8.3 million at the end of the sixth month of market presence.
The Monster Hunter series officially began in 2004 with the first episode on PS2 and to date has sold over 78 million pieces, making it extremely popular in Japan and enjoying increasing success in the West as well. Monster Hunter Rise was released in March 2021 exclusively on Nintendo Switch while the PC version was released on January 13, 2022 with support for 4K, graphic filters and other advanced features. Capcom will continue to support the game and the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion will arrive during the summer , more details are expected in the coming months.
