Justin E. Bell , Obsidian Entertainment veteran and The Outer Worlds composer, has announced that he has joined PlayStation Studios as a Supervising Sound Designer. Bell spent 11 years at Obsidian Entertainment where he most recently served as Audio Director. He also composed the score for Grounded and Pillars of Eternity. Currently, Obsidian is one of the Xbox teams, which will have to do without the talent of the composer.
Bell’s announcement came via Twitter , where he wrote: “I’ve always wanted to work for PlayStation, so it’s so surreal to announce my new role at PlayStation Studios as Supervising Sound Designer. Dreams come true, folks. What a privilege to join. this incredible group. ”
I've always wanted to work for PlayStation…
So it's surreal to announce my new role @PlayStation Studios as a Supervising Sound Designer!

This assumption obviously does not come out of nowhere. Through LinkedIn, PlayStation had posted a job proposal for a Supervising Sound Designer who would be responsible for “creating high quality audio content for first party and second party products. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the industry’s most talented developers and some of the most exciting PlayStation AAA games. ”
It therefore appears that Bell will be able to work on multiple internal projects . This assumption confirms recent statements from Hermen Hulst, who revealed that PlayStation Studios is expanding.
