Among the advances promised by the manufacturer, there is talk of improvements at all levels, whether on the resolution, the field of vision “through position tracking and controls”. Good news too, this Playstation VR 2 will connect to the PS5 via a single cable. A detail that will probably delight users of the first Playstation VR, which required the connection of several cables which clearly hampered freedom of movement.

A NEW VR CONTROLLER ON THE PROGRAM

In addition, this headset will be accompanied by a new VR controller, instead of the current Playstation Move. This controller will take “key functions” of the DualSense and “benefit from improved ergonomics”. In fact, it is assumed that this controller will offer adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

Regarding the launch date, Sony has confirmed that this new VR headset will not be released in 2021. “The development of our new VR system is still far from over,” says the Japanese firm. “However, we wanted to make this update with our fans, because the developer community is already working to create new worlds that you can one day explore in virtual reality,” enthuses the manufacturer.

As a reminder, a series of patents discovered in 2019 revealed the existence of the Playstation VR 2. According to the information distilled by these documents, the PS VR 2 would offer an autonomy of 5 hours, a definition of 2550 x 1440 pixels as well as a 120 Hz refresh rate.
