The director of District 9 and Chappie will develop the next-gen shooter. Neill Blomkamp enters the gaming industry

Neill Blomkamp became famous for such productions as: “District 9”, “Elysium” and “Chappie”, but now the author wants to use his skills to work in the gaming industry. The creator joined the young Gunzilla Games studio as “Chief Visionary Officer” to help create a mysterious shooter.

It will be the first game of the studio that was founded last year, but the company employs talented developers from Crytek, Electronic Arts or Ubisoft. Neill Blomkamp in an interview with the IGN editors confirmed that his role in the project is to make the best decisions when designing the key elements of the shooter.

As it turns out, Neill Blomkamp is a player who has even worked on an adaptation of “Halo”, but the movie was never made. In his new position, the director will help, among other things, to “weave narrative elements” into the shooter.

Gunzilla Games is developing an online PVP shooter that will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and personal computers, but the premiere will take place in a few years. The studio has been pre-producing since last year.
