The author of the recent Tomb Raider trilogy, Rihanna Pratchett, is not working on the new chapter but has her say on what she would like from the new story.
With the new Tomb Raider practically officially announced by Crystal Dynamics, although not yet presented in an effective way, the first specific considerations also appear, with the author Rihanna Pratchett who, for example, would like to see a new story disconnected from paternal problems . of the protagonist , although he also specified that he is not working on the new chapter.
It is not the first time that Patchett – herself a daughter of art, being the daughter of the great Terry Pratchett – shows a certain impatience with the clutter of the dimensions assumed by the figure of Lara Croft’s father, since only some time ago she already had reported that he did not want to give so much attention to the father of the protagonist, even in the previous chapters that were built on his script.
On the occasion of the announcement of a new Tomb Raider , which took place in recent days with the presentation of Unreal Engine 5, which will be the basis of the Crystal Dynamics game, Pratchett therefore returned to the topic: “We had a lot of fun making evolve her character, so maybe I would like to see her freer from the problems related to her father “, said the writer during the evening of the BAFTA awards.
“I like to see her fight freely and also find some personal joys in what she does, because when we started writing the reboot, she was really on the road to becoming a tomb rider. She was kind of a proto-Tomb Raider and all the traits that you normally would. we tie to that character, as his courage and his resources began to come to the surface “.
Pratchett would now like to see a Lara Croft in full shape : “I would like to see her come to fruition and also say those typical charismatic jokes that I wanted to write for her, but that I could not do, because she was not yet in the right phase of ‘evolution”. In any case, “I think the trilogy has been well received by the fans,” she added, “so it will be interesting to see what happens next.”
