The latest rumors about the future of Toshihiro Nagoshi have been confirmed. The Japanese left Sega, but the band does not intend to cry, and is vigorously implementing their next plans. Work on another project and the continuation of Yakuza’s story: Like a Dragon were revealed.
In late August, we reported that Toshihiro Nagoshi, considered the father of the Yakuza series, most likely was in the last negotiations with NetEase . There are many indications that the negotiations with the Chinese studio have come to fruition, because the developer will leave Sega. The creator joined the company in 1989.
“When I leave SEGA, I am also leaving the position of studio manager of Ryu Ga Gotoku. Thanks to the fans who have supported us and the Yakuza series for many years. You have my most sincere and deepest gratitude ”- Toshihiro Nagoshi.
SEGA wants the message to reach players from all over the world, so the statements of the most important authors have been translated. Daisuke Sato, who was associated with the Yakuza series from the beginning, also left the ranks of the team:
“I was involved in the development of Yakuza from the very beginning and served as the head of the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio for 9 years, so I have a strong attachment to them. It is sad to leave the place and colleagues with whom I have shared many ups and downs, but Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio 10 years after its birth has become a strong organization ”- Daisuke Sato.
Toshihiro Nagoshi emphasized that he does not know the fate of the Yakuza series, but the universe will continue to be created – and its development will be the responsibility of a “new generation” of developers.
Masayoshi Yokoyama became the new head of the studio, who makes no secret that for years “Ryu Ga Gotoku” was basically synonymous with Toshihiro Nagoshi. Currently, the series rests on his shoulders – the development of Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2 has been confirmed for a good start.
“Ryu Ga Gotoku’s predecessors shared their thoughts and know-how with each of the employees. You can see it in the recently released Lost Judgment, and you’ll see it in the upcoming sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which will continue the story of Ichiban Kasuga. ”
Thus, Yokoyama suggested that Lost Judgment, which had already received fantastic scores, was being developed by a new team.
The developers ensure that they will not disappoint the dedicated community:
“We will continue our mission to keep you as entertained as possible with our games, so look forward to our bright future.”
